Venice, Florida – November 3, 2014

Day 248
Miles Today: 28 SM; Total Miles: 5,003 SM
Locks Today: 0 ; Total Locks: 103

Today we passed 5,000 miles of travel on the Great Loop since March 1, 2014.

After a nice night tied up to the dock at Moores’s Crabhouse, we untied the lines about 9:00 a.m. We’ve had so many early mornings lately, and it was nice to leave a little later this morning. Putz’n Around left first, then we followed. Island Time then moved into the lead since we were familiar with the area. After a short time, we entered the large, Sarasota Bay. It was a nice, calm ride.

Once past Sarasota Bay, the channel narrowed and became more shallow. There were beautiful homes lining the waterway.

After a few more miles and a few bridges, we arrived at the Crows Nest Marina at Venice Inlet. It was a little tough getting in because of the current, but we finally got safely tied up. Scott and Brigitte pulled in front of us.

We walked the dogs and then checked in with the Marina. Then the four of us walked to the beach.

Beautiful Venice Beach.

Tomorrow, a short day at Cayo Costa, one of our favorite anchorages, then on to Cape Coral on Wednesday to cross our wake!
